About IIT Kharagpur:
The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur (commonly known as IIT Kharagpur or IIT KGP) is an autonomous engineering and technology-oriented institute of higher education established by the Government of India in 1951. The first of the thirteen IITs to be established, it is officially recognised as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India and is regarded as one of the best engineering institutions in India. IIT Kharagpur has ranked among the top engineering college in the academic ranking of Indian colleges by various engineering education surveys.
About IIT Kharagpur and IMechE:
Being amongst the best Engineering institutes in India,IIT Kharagpur emphasises on Technical education and awareness for the service of the mankind,For the same reason it was thought beneficial to have collaboration with different spectrum of Institutions and Groups that stand as a personifying element for the icon of Engineering,and mechanical engineering is ofcourse the first and still the most royal discipline in Engineering,and so was established the student chapter of IMechE in IIT Kharagpur.
Since then IIT Kharagpur and IMechE has worked hands in gloves with each other to promote and imbibe the spirit of Engineering within the students of IIT Kharagpur,and IIT Kharagpur being the first and the only Student Chapter of IMechE in India to be functional in any Institute of india becomes the sole promoter till date to promote IMechE and its spirit throughout the students of India.
