About Us

The NSW Panel works closely  with the local division of Engineers Australia & ASME to provide a programme of technical and social events for the joint memberships.

Meetings are generally held on the third Thursday of each month at Engineers Australia Ground Floor Harrick's Auditorium 8, Thomas St Chatswood NSW 2067 at 6.00 for 6.30pm. refreshments are provided in a "get to know you" atmosphere. Parking nearby is free after 6.00pm.

Other meetings are held jointly with branches of EA and other organisations.

Technical papers presented can be found shortly afterwards on the Engineers Australia Sydney Division website.

The Thompson Coupling by David Farrell. An innovative design of mechanical transmission coupling. This invention has won an Engineers Australia design award.

 

NSW Speak Out For Engineering Competition, Harrick's Auditorium

This IMechE competition is an annual event for IMech Young Members. It is held in each state. An Australian final is held where the winners from each state compete. The winner of this competition goes on to the regional final to be held in Malaysia in March-April 2009. The competition is aimed at improving the technical presentation delivery of members. The presentation is regarded more highly than the technical content. Winners in each state receive a substantial prize & expenses to attend the finals. The competition entries have been received and the final entrants are being evaluated by committee. Further information is available from the Hon Secretary.

 

NSW The Humble Check Valve & Its Importance to Pumped Systems, Harrick's Auditorium

As 35% of the world's energy is consumed in pumped fluid systems these devices play an important role in protecting fluid nachinery and piping systems. Why are there so many different designs?How do I select a valve for service? Is a check valve required to be used? Take the opportunity to speak to experienced pumped systems engineers.
