IMechE Benelux Branch - Young Members

Introduction

With a third of the IMechE Benelux Branch's membership comprising of Young Members (members in their 20's and early 30's), there is an excellent opportunity for organising Young Member activities within the region. Indeed, young members have always participated in branch activities aimed at the general membership. But in addition to that, there is a need to focus on issues of concern to those engineers who are in the early years of their professional career. To answer this need, a Young Member section has been set up within the IMechE Benelux Branch.

Objectives

The objectives for the Benelux Branch Young Member section are:
Training and Membership - Help and advice on the process to achieve CEng status Promotion of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Development and promotion of a Benelux Branch Young Engineers network. To help with this we have strong links with the European Institute for Industrial leadership (EIIL), whose seminars and workshops can help with CPD.

Activities

Activities to date have included a membership workshop, a technical visit and a management seminar. Social events may also be organised from time to time. Members of other UK engineering institutions are also welcome to attend our events.

E-mail network

E-mail is the preferred means of communication with the young members. Events are announced by e-mail alerts containing a link to the IMechE Benelux website for more information. If you like to be included in our e-mailing list, please contact Gareth Pemberton and/or Emma Ireland.

Like to get involved?

The success of any Young Member initiative depends heavily on the support and input from the membership. The events organised must meet the needs of the Young Member working overseas, so please let us know what areas you would like the Young Members group to focus on.

Any suggestions? Would you like to organise / help organise an event?
Please contact Gareth Pemberton and/or Emma Ireland.
