Overview

The Regional and International Operations team is responsible for the development, co-ordination and delivery of the Institution’s International, Regional and Young Member operational plans to deliver the Institution’s strategy.

In the UK

Within the UK activities for our 73,000 members are coordinated locally through 16 Regions, each with its own volunteer committee. These Regional Committees, in conjunction with more locally focused Areas, Divisional Centres and Young Member Panels organise activities to engage and support members as well as raise the profile of the profession and the Institution locally.

Outside the UK

From an international perspective, the Institution has a membership of 17,000 in over 122 countries. Again, activities are coordinated locally through a diverse network of volunteers working in close cooperation with local professional engineering organisations.

International activity is coordinated in the broadest sense through Regional Forums  that encompass the whole of the International membership and work with the Institution's volunteer groupings within each country to provide services for their members locally and raise the profile of the Institution and the profession.

To find out more about the Institution's activities and support structure outside the UK visit the International Focus section.
