The Derby & Nottingham Young Member Panel exists to provide a networking forum for engineers in the area to meet and construct their own network of contacts from all fields of expertise. One of our key objectives we have as a young member panel is to advance engineering generally and to become involved with students at all levels.
Our events are for the members, so we would definitely welcome any ideas or feedback from you too.
As well as facilitating events that interest our members, we actively promote the benefits and the "how to" of becoming registered with the Institution. We provide a service to our members in representing your interests and concerns to the greater IMechE. We have members who actively participate in the Railway Division, the senior Area and Region Panels and at the Young Members' Board right in the heart of Bird Cage Walk.
I am extremely proud of our Panel, through their dedication and hard work, achieving Panel of the Year 2006 with events such as the visit to the Nottingham Trams and Energy Questions Time. The year ahead will see our annual events, the Medical Lecture, the One Day Seminar and now the Old Fashioned Sports Day growing from strength to strength with the feedback you have already given us.
We are a friendly, diverse group who aspire to make out time both in and out of work as fulfilling and fun as possible.
Whether queries, wanting to get involved or simply just to come along and see what we do, I look forward to hearing from you!

The BLOODHOUND SSC engineering team is endeavouring to raise the world land speed record by a staggering 30% to 1050 mph and at the same time inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers in schools and colleges throughout the UK. The presentation will include all aspects of the research, design and build of the car, plus the search for a suitable run location.
