Welcome to the Midlands Centre of the Railway Division, based in
Derby and which has in our catchment area possibly the largest number of railway engineers of any of the branches.
We put on a wide ranging and interesting annual programme including a regular Young Members’ lecture evening and a 2-yearly Colloquium.
The emphasis is of course on railways and our current programme for 2009/10 can be viewed via the link on the left.
We undertake occasional technical visits to places of interest and occasionally hold joint meetings with the Derby Railway Engineering Society, a long established professional society for local railway engineers.
We have also sought to improve our links with the other engineering institutions to increase the breadth of issues we cover, incorporating the mechanical with the electrical and the civil aspects of an integrated railway system. We hope that these links will continue to bolster our programme and will support our member’s professional development.
Our meetings usually commence at 17.00 for 17.45 and are preceded by tea and coffee. The regular venue for 2010 is
Ramada Encore Hotel, Locomotive Way, Pride Park, Derby, DE24 8PU
(Access via second left off Roundhouse Road)
Formal posters advertising forthcoming meetings are circulated to the majority of railway-associated companies within the area prior to the date giving a summary of the lecture and the specific location.
If you (or your company) would like to be added to this circulation list please get in touch with our secretary via the 'Contacts' page
