About Us

Welcome to the Northern Ireland Region

There are 1,200 members of IMechE in Northern Ireland, including 600 students and 65 Fellows.

Membership is open to anyone interested in Mechanical Engineering.

Technical items are focussed on the Professional needs of Technician, Incorporated and Chartered engineers.

Based on research in 2006 of our membership, our Regional Aims for 2008 - 2010 are as follows.

1.      Promotion of Mechanical Engineering
2.      Professional Development for Mechanical Engineers
3.      Professional Network for Mechanical Engineering
4.      Develop Mechanical Engineers for Public service
5.      Develop Ongoing relationships with Key Stakeholders

 

In line with these aims, the Regional Committee plan a varied list of activities including,

     Working Lunches

     Networking Activities and Joint Meetings

Wind Turbines for the Private Home, University of Ulster

The lecture will discuss domestic scale wind turbines, siting issues and wind regimes, domestic demand profiles versus wind energy output, support mechanisms and economics.
