Welcome to the Scottish Region
This Site will be used to update you on events and activities being organised by the IMechE Scottish Region. I hope you find something of interest in your area.
One objective of the Region is to improve its means of communicating details of events. From 2006, we now publicise events and meetings via e-mail and the web. Reminders are issued to interested Members some weeks prior to each event by email. If you are interested in receiving a details in advance of events in Your Area…then please either contact myself or your Area Secretary supplying your email address and Member Status.
We currently have three enthusiastic Young Member Panels operating in Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen Areas. The Region is very keen to set an additional Young Member Panel in Glasgow. If you are under 30 years old and would be interested in participating in any of these panels, please do let me know.
Should you wish further information do not hesitate to contact myself or any other of the contacts listed within.

Longannet power station is a large coal-fired power station on the upper Firth of Forth near Kincardine on Forth, Fife, Scotland. It is the most powerful generating station in Scotland.
When constructed it was the largest and most powerful coal-fired station in Europe, and it is now the third largest, after Belchatów in Poland and Drax in Yorkshire, England. It is a regional landmark, dominating the Forth skyline with its 183 m (600 feet) chimney stack. Like most other power stations in Scotland it lacks cooling towers, relying instead on river water as a coolant.
This tour offers a unique opportunity to view the inner workings of Scotland's most powerful generating station. With a tour from ex-employees we are assured of interesting insights throughout this event.
