The Reading Area goals are:
1. To improve the quality and content of the Reading programme to contribute towards CPD and the development and transfer of engineering knowledge and current legislative regulations.
2. Develop contacts and relationships with locally based companies and educational organisations to enhance the image and influence of the IMechE.
3. Arrange for at least one speaker from within Government, commerce, industry, local government, education and training establishments to speak about engineers in society.
4. Where appropriate develop joint activities and presentations with professional engineering institutions and associations.
