Within the Yorkshire Region we work with a number of other organisations when arranging events. Some of these events are listed on the events pages of this site. However, there may sometimes be events that these other organisations are running but that IMechE have not been involved with. This page will be used to list links to other organisations and mention any special events they are holding that may be of interest to our Members.

UK Aerospace Youth Rocketry Challenge. This years challenge comes to a conclusion at the final on 28/29 June 2010 and it is great that teams from a number of schools across Yorkshire have made it through. Yorkshire Chemical Focus announce a new
Manufacturing Excellence Programme. This is a new network comprising of three elements:

Maintenance and Reliability Best Practice.
Launch Meeting held in January 2010. This is aimed at Engineering Managers, Plant Engineers and Maintenance Managers or anyone with a responsibility for the maintenance of plant and equipment. The objectives are to maximize plant utilisation; optimize business processes; minimize capital, inventory and operating costs; share best practice and benchmark across the industry. There will be a charge for joining the network.

Lean Six Sigma and Continuous Improvement. Launching mid 2010. This is aimed at Operations Managers, Production Managers and Maintenance Managers or anyone with a responsibility for the improvement of business processes. This network will be run in a group learning environment with the support of a Master Black Belt. The objectives are to improve business efficiency; increase customer satisfaction; optimize business processes; reduce wastage. There will be a charge for joining the network.

Energy and Sustainability Focus. Launching Q3 2010. This is aimed at anyone involved with business who would like to improve the energy efficiency of their business or create and share new sustainability ideas. Utilizing Lean Six Sigma techniques to identify your biggest energy losses or helping you to negotiate better energy contracts. More details will follow.
